History of Fountains
During the ancient time in the Middle East, garden fountain was first used. The walls on Egyptian tombs have a lot of drawings of pictures, and the garden fountains were shown in homes’ courtyards. Most of the garden fountains are rectangular in shape and the edges have trees that are aligned. The shade of the trees and the water gives a refreshing feeling and cools the place to get away from the heat of the sun. Since the weather in the Middle East is hot, the best way to get away with it is to put water fountain to moisten up the place and to while away the dusts that surrounds the place. The cooling effect of the water helps the people free themselves from the heat of the sun and also, it brings relief to the people’s tired mind and body.
The architectural design that the gardens of Persian people and the fountains and pools that are present in their homes enclosed the very attractive look, this is to attract the visitors. And actually, Romans has a ritual which is very important to them, this is called the bathing rituals, this is the reason why they put public baths in their gardens where they put fountain in it to add beauty and elegance.
In Spain, garden pools and fountains are also built; these fountains and pools were constructed earlier than the 15th century, also in India in the 17th century and in 18th century. In China the architecture designs of fountains are placed in the middle or in the center of the courtyards, also, it is incorporated with pools. After such, Japan followed, because they were inspired by those of the architectural design of fountains in China.
In Italy, throughout the Renaissance period, gardens were developed into a more beautiful design and its complexity became more and more pleasing to the eyes. Fountains already have waterfalls with spouting water. And then the new and some versions of the gardens of the Italian Renaissance period had appeared in the whole of Europe.
And then came the 18th century, and garden fountains was the designed or created to look like a beautiful and natural creation, it was then similar to the wilderness. With this, the design of the garden already has a pond, a river and trees were scattered in the area and shrubs too for it to give a more natural look.
And in temperate climates, during the 20th century, gardens are then placed inside the homes. Most of the architects tried to incorporate their designs to nature. And by then, water fountains and indoor pools are placed inside malls, buildings, homes, hotels and etc; the reason is to give a rejuvenating feeling to the people.
