Fountains for Celebration
The fountains for celebration are actually a way of letting the people know that the event is some kind of a special celebration. What they almost do during this special event is to gather around the fountains. One example of this kind of a special celebration is the Fountain day at the University of Albany. Every year, they are all gathered to celebrate as the spring season comes, and also to celebrate the nearly approaching end of semester. With this kind of celebration, they believe that that it is a way of creating something that is close to the spirit.
Actually the fountain day is an event that is sponsored by the school itself, and it was initiated in 1979 by the Human Awareness Program, this is to let the Faculty members and the students to be together without any barriers that separates them. This celebration does create something of the same kind to urban beach celebration. Thus, although the fountain day celebration is great and something that is kind of fun celebration, something happen in the year 2004, and it gives a kind of traumatic incident in the University. The bad thing about the 2004 fountain day is that, it became the nightmare, it was actually ruined, and the celebration turned out bad.
Because during this fountain day celebration, many of the students got drunk, and had suffered from various injuries, so what the school did in response to the incident is that they moved the celebration of the event in weekends. And, the security became strict as well, they give limitations to the University of Albany students only, outsiders are no longer allowed to go to the area where the fountain is and/or to join in the event. On the other hand, the fountain day is the celebration of centrality and is is actually in the central part of the University Community.
And since that many public fountains are found in local parks, the fountains are then assigned in the commemoration of the national figures and the public figures as well.
